5.3.1.3 Drying. - Immediately after cleaning, items shall be dried
thoroughly in accordance with an applicable procedure specified in Specifica-
tion MIL-P-116 that will not damage the items.
5.3.1.4 Preservative application.- Preservative conforming to Specifica-
tion MIL-L-3150 (P-7 of Specification MIL-P-116) shall be applied on the
mounting hardware (screws, nuts, and washers) and pin. Preservative conforming
to class of specification MIL-C-11796 (P-4 of @edification MIL-P-116) shall
be applied on the exposed unprotected metal surfaces of the mount, socket and
extension assembly. Preservative shall be applied by the brushing procedure
specified in Specification MIL-P-116. Prese~ative shall be applied on the
hardware and pin by any applicable procedure specified in Specification MIL-P-
116. Excess presenative shall be removed.
Unit packaging.
5.3.1.5
5.3.1.5.1 Mount without two instrument lights, box end wrench, cover and
extension assembly. The mount without the equipment =m=ti= package=s
specified herein, which is in conformance with Method I for the mount and Method
IC-1 for the mounting hardware, pin, and socket of Specification MIL-P-116.
5.3.1.5.1.1 Wrapping and covering preservative coated surfaces. - The pre-
servatuve coated pin shall be wrapped with greaseproofed barrier material. The
preservative coated mounting hardware (screws, nuts and washers) and the wrapped
pin shall be placed together and wrapped with greaseproofed barrier material.
The wrap shall be secured in place with pressure sensitive tape. The socket
shall be wrapped with greaseproofed barrier material and the wrap secured in
place with pressure sensitive tape. The elevation knob shall be turned counter
clockwise to stop position. All. preservative coated surfaces shall be covered
or wrapped with greaseproofed barrier material. The greaseproofed barrier
material shall. be secured in place with waterproof pressure sensitive tape.
5.3.1.5.1.2 Bagging the wrapped socket, pin and mounting hardware. - The
wrapped socket, pin and hardware shall be placed in greaseproofed waterroof
bag . The bag shall be heat sealed, exhausting entrapped air prior to the final
closure.
5.3.1.5.1.3 Securing bagged items. - The bagged items shall be secured to
the surface of the leg bearing the name plate with filament tape conforming to
type IV of Specification PPP-T-0097b.
5.3.1.5.1.4 Level vial. assemblies.- The metal covers on the level vial
assemblies shall be positioned to cover the faces of the level vials and the
covers shall be secured with waterproof pressure sensitive tape.
5.3.1.5.1.5 Securing the mount top base. - The mount shall be
secured to a plywood base with step bolts. The base shall be constructed in
accordance with Figure 1, except that the dimension 13. inches shall. apply in
